Lessons From 31 Days of Yoga

Over all, I learned to be real with myself. I learned that my ego is telling me I deserve the things that won’t serve me. That fear is what keeps me from doing things that seem strange, like guided meditation. That progress is a slow, and often fickle bitch that will not give me what I want but instead keeps me aware of what I need.

When I Am Empty

When I am empty the things that fill me are not big enough to keep themselves from draining through my pores like a salt shaker, and the words do not come easy – are not coming easy.

“Just Relax”

The ultimate relaxation would be an apology. I would love to sit down and write out an hour long lecture to the people I’m frustrated with or who I feel don’t see my point of view and just really give it to them. Intellectually. Up the ass.

Lost Songs – Teagan Johnston

I spent a lot of time leading up to our move to Toronto and during our first months here writing and recording songs alone at home with just me and my piano. It was a really interesting time of solitude for me in music and although I would never want to go back to that, a lot of good came from it.
